Report a Crime
If you know about or are the victim of a crime, we encourage you to report it to Public Safety so we can help and provide you with resources.
Students, faculty, and staff should start by reporting incidents and crimes to Public Safety (either online or printable PDF), and then file a report with the city in which the crime occurred. (Reach out if you have any questions!) You can:
- Crime Report Form (PDF); please return completed form(s) in a "Confidential" envelope to: Aaron Fimon; St. Paul Campus Manager ; Department of Public Safety; University of St. Thomas; 2115 Summit Avenue Mail #4081; St. Paul, MN 55105-1096.
Reports can be submitted anonymously. While this is a valuable option, please know that providing detailed information, including your name, may allow us to solicit clarifying details or offer further assistance.
It is important that an exact date and location of the incident be included in your report. Please be thorough in your report and include a brief description of the incident so that crimes can be appropriately classified.

Guidance on Reporting a Crime at St. Thomas
You can be a silent witness: Report crime confidentially or anonymously by e-mailing PSTIPS@stthomas.edu or calling 651-962-TIPS.
Summary of the Good Samaritan Policy: Students who seek medical assistance for an intoxicated or impaired student will not face any formal disciplinary actions or sanctions related to their own alcohol or other drug use or possession related to the incident, WITH A FEW CAVEATS Read the full Good Samaritan Policy.

After submitting your report to St. Thomas Public Safety, if the incident or crime occurred in St. Paul, you may also want to file a report with the St. Paul Police. The St. Paul Police Department offers online reporting for non-emergency incidents.
The St. Paul Police Department (SPPD) will accept online reports for:
- Burglary of a detached garage
- Damage to property
- Fraud & forgery
- Harassing phone calls
- Illegal dumping
- Information reports
- Lost property
- Misdemeanor theft
- Theft from motor vehicle
After submitting your report to St. Thomas Public Safety, if the incident or crime occurred in Minneapolis, you may also want to file a report with the Minneapolis Police. The Minneapolis Police Department offers online reporting for non-emergency incidents.
The Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) will accept online reports for:
- Theft
- Theft from motor vehicle
- Lost property
- Damage to property
- Damage to motor vehicle
